So the federal NDP wants a committee to study the $227 million MP pension rip-off.

What a transparently sleazy method of making the MP pension issue go away for a year or two so MPs can roll up more pension credits.

It's an adaption of Jack Layton's "on your side" motto: they've just dropped one letter: now it's "on our side."

And get this Canadian Press report:

"NDP House Leader Joe Comartin said the NDP doesn't believe the Canadian Taxpayers Federation's calculations are accurate. He said an independent study of MP pensions some 13 years ago found taxpayers contribute $5 or $6 for every $1 contributed by MPs."

Really Joe, you're bringing out a 13 year old study? And you have the gall to question our numbers?

You're a busy guy, you're the NDP house leader, but if you want to earn your pension, shouldn't keep yourself a little more up to date than using 13-year-old research? Or at least have one of your taxpayer-funded researchers do it for you?

Here are the latest financial statements from Treasury Board and the latest report from the chief actuary of the superintendent of financial institutions. Maybe you should read them and issue an apology.
